Turning the Sandbox into a Weapon

While raccoons cannot engage humans in traditional combat, Dumpster Gang's physics engine allows your crew to turn everyday household clutter into formidable defensive tools. When John Exterminator corners your squad, running away is not your only option: striking him with environmental props can buy the vital seconds needed to scramble over a fence or rescue a caged friend.

Stunning John triggers a comical dazed animation. Birds circle around his head, his flashlight beam drops to the dirt, and his movement drops to zero for 4 to 7 seconds depending on the projectile's weight and point of impact.

However, ammunition must be managed carefully. Throwing an item removes it from your inventory, and glass objects will shatter on contact, depriving you of future defense.

The Stun Arsenal Tier List

Not all household objects possess the weight or density required to knock out a grown human. Here is the definitive breakdown of offensive thrown items:

S-Tier: The Cast-Iron Skillet

The undisputed champion of raccoon self-defense. Found on kitchen stovetops and camping grills.

  • Impact Stun Duration: 5.0 seconds (7.0 seconds from behind).
  • Durability: Indestructible. Can be thrown, retrieved from the grass, and thrown again infinitely.
  • Special Perk: Produces an iconic metallic "CLANG" that staggers nearby guard dogs.

A-Tier: Heavy Tools & Hardware

Pipe wrenches, steel hammers, and cordless drills found in garages and basements.

  • Impact Stun Duration: 4.0 seconds.
  • Durability: Indestructible.
  • Special Perk: Compact size allows one raccoon to carry a tool in their pouch while hauling loot with the other paw.

B-Tier: Clay Flowerpots & Ceramic Gnomes

Abundant in backyards and front garden beds.

  • Impact Stun Duration: 3.5 seconds.
  • Durability: Single-use (Shatters on impact).
  • Special Perk: Shattering pottery leaves ceramic shards on the ground that slow John's boots by 20%.

C-Tier: Food & Kitchenware

Canned peaches, frozen turkeys, and glass condiment jars.

  • Impact Stun Duration: 2.0 to 3.0 seconds.
  • Durability: Varies (Cans deform, glass breaks).
  • Special Perk: Frozen turkeys inflict heavy knockback, pushing John backward into doors or fences.
Weapon / Tool Stun Duration Reusability Throw Arc Best Combat Scenario
Cast-Iron Skillet 5.0 seconds 100% Reusable Medium flat arc Emergency hallway confrontations
Pipe Wrench 4.0 seconds 100% Reusable Fast direct arc Throwing from high fence tops
Heavy Boombox 4.5 seconds Reusable battery Heavy lob Pre-throwing as an active trap
Full Paint Bucket 3.0 seconds Single-use Vertical drop Dropping off roofs onto his head
Ceramic Flowerpot 3.5 seconds Consumable High arc Mid-range backyard engagements
Watermelon 3.0 seconds Consumable Heavy rolling lob Bowling down long stairways

Throwing Mechanics & Headshot Multipliers

To successfully stun John, you must master the trajectory aiming mechanics:

  1. Holding the Aim Reticle: Hold the throw button for 0.5 seconds to bring up the dotted trajectory line. Releasing instantly performs a quick-toss directly forward.
  2. The Headshot Multiplier: Hitting John in the chest or legs only inflicts a "Minor Stumble" lasting 1.5 seconds. Hitting his face or the brim of his pest control hat inflicts a full 5.0-second blackout stun.
  3. Elevated Dropping (The Gravity Bonus): Dropping heavy objects like bowling balls or paint buckets from roofs or second-story balconies multiplies the stun duration by 1.5x due to gravitational momentum.

Advanced Combo: The Trap & Clang

In cooperative multiplayer, squads can execute devastating chain stuns to escort heavy loot past John:

  1. The Bait: Player 1 sprints across John's flashlight beam and retreats down a narrow garden path.
  2. The Ambush: Player 2 perches on top of the wooden garden archway holding a skillet.
  3. The Drop: As John runs beneath the archway, Player 2 drops the skillet onto his head for a 5-second stun.
  4. The Haul: Players 3 and 4 sprint past with the flat-screen TV while John is dazed.
  5. The Retread: Player 1 retrieves the skillet from the ground, ready for the next encounter.

Pro Tip

Do not throw items at John while he is already dazed. The stun timer does not stack; a second hit while he is shaking his head will simply deflect off his shoulders and waste your weapon. Wait until he begins groaning and standing upright before throwing your follow-up projectile.
